Standard & Poor's Credit Rating

China Taiping Insurance (HK) Company Limited has been affirmed "A" by Standard & Poor's for eleven consecutive years

        On 14 November 2023, Standard & Poor's (“S&P”) announced to affirm the Financial Strength Rating and Issuer Credit Rating of “A” of China Taiping Insurance (HK) Company Limited (“CTPI(HK)”). This has been eleven consecutive years since CTPI(HK) has been affirmed the Credit Rating “A” from S&P. The outlook of the rating is “Stable”, which is in line with China Taiping Insurance Group (“the Group”).

        The ratings on CTPI(HK) reflect its critical role in the insurance-centric strategy of the Group. This includes the Group's initiative to expand in the Greater Bay Area and overseas markets. S&P views CTPI(HK) as a core subsidiary of the Group and the ratings are equalized with the Group’s 'a' group credit profile. CTPI(HK) is the Group's flagship property/casualty(P/C) insurer in Hong Kong, where the Group's management is headquartered. In addition to sharing Group's brand and strategy, CTPI(HK) benefits from a strong and long-term commitment of the Group’s support, including client referral, asset management, information technology, reinsurance arrangements, and risk management.

        S&P expects CTPI(HK) will likely maintain its market presence as one of the top five players in Hong Kong's P/C insurance sector and will actively manage its net retained exposure amid business expansion of new business and actively manage its sensitivity to credit and market risks. S&P also believes CTPI(HK) will benefit from continuous business collaboration with sister companies in Guangdong and Macau for cross-border product offerings, as part of the group's Greater Bay Area strategy. S&P further expects CTPI(HK) will maintain healthy buffer over its regulatory solvency and its risk culture and governance will further evolve over the next two years as the regulatory framework in Hong Kong advances.

A.M. Best's Credit Rating

China Taiping Insurance (HK) Company Limited has been affirmed "A" by A.M. Best for twelve consecutive years

        On 8 December 2023, A.M. Best Co., Inc (“AM Best”) announced to affirm the Financial Strength Rating of “A” (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of “a” (Excellent) of China Taiping Insurance (HK) Company Limited (“CTPI(HK)”). The outlook of these Credit Ratings (“ratings”) is stable and it has been rated "A" for twelve consecutive years.  

        The ratings reflect CTPI(HK)’s balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as very strong, as well as its adequate operating performance, neutral business profile and appropriate enterprise risk management. Besides, being a critical overseas operating subsidiary of China Taiping Insurance Group (“the Group”), CTPI(HK) plays a strategically important role in executing the Group’s internationalization strategy in such markets as well as in the Greater Bay Area. Meanwhile, CTPI(HK) receives support from the Group in various forms.
